SPECIAL NOTE
Quakes from Oceanic Fault Corners
Big quakes occur where angular or curved faults of oceanic plates occur. This summary map shows several larger quakes that seem paired (Japan, Tonga, Indonesia (2), Columbia, McQuarie Island).
http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/eq_depot/2004/2004_data.html
These corners/bends focus the seismic energy beyond the other geology of big quakes.
One quake in an angle is

A bend is NE of Fiji (S of Samoa, N of Tonga).
