Hi Chris. At present time and according to research done by the University of Nevada, Reno the Walker Lane Belt appears to go NW into California as far as Lake Almanor, California. This is just over the hill about 45 miles SE of Burney, California.

Seismologists that I have talked to all agree that it may extend further NW then current research shows, but there just isn’t enough evidence to spend money on research in the area between Mount Lassen and Lake Almanor, because once you start you would have to go almost as far as Mount Shasta and as much as I want to prove something I can’t justify the cost. There just isn’t enough there. However there is enough there to get me to thinking about it.

The area in reference in the figure shown is known as the Walker Lane Belt, but to the best of my knowledge it isn’t known as that, or by any other name beyond what is shown.

In the past there have been some earthquake swarms in the area of the most recent M>4.4 quake. No explanation has ever been given for those swarms. Speculation ranges all the way from the movement of magma to tectonic. Most think that they were tectonic, but can’t say that they were tectonic and that nothing else could have caused them.

I learn a lot of things by talking to people. I learn a lot more by listening to what they have to say. Take Care…Don in creepy town
