After the Sylmar EQ in 1971, a friend and I went to a movie in Westwood. And aftershock hit. We were seated in the back and saw the wave that Don describes, hit the front row and roll back toward us. Like a rolling pin under a rug is a good example of what it look like as it approached us. First the front row heads were raised about a foot, then came back down, and so forth till we were raised and let down, everybody in the room screaming. I left L.A. that night. Too creepy for me.
