Petra, what's a "mile"? Its a couple hundred km to edge of Borderland..edge of Borderland is Patton escarpment...where the water depth goes from about 1 km to 3 or 4...
The 5.2 is south of the contractional structures I was talking about...and I'm not checking this, but I think it was strike-slip, not thrust. Coastal shove doesn't mean anything to me and I don't want to know...I've seen your posts on this...but, if there is some sort of creep event going on on a megathrust fault dipping NE, then, no, no reason why E-W faults would be loaded more..but, no evidence for such a creep event.
