Petra, I'm sure when you fire a projectile into a big piece of rock you hear a really loud "thunk" or "crash" (yes, I know that's not what you meant, but since both the impact and what he is measuring occur at the same time,that is what you would hear). Sure, contact him. I guess if NASA thinks that you can hear meteors 100 km up at light speed you might well be able to hear X class flares....but, it would be really hard to demonstrate, except to yourself...
