I disagree with John on a very fundamental issue, which is what constitutes a �gtheory.�h And I think the misuse of that word is related to the inflation of the value of some research. So I am sorry if by telling someone that something is not a theory at all, but merely untestable speculation, that sounds like an attack.

On the other hand, accusing me of insults at the outset, without specifying in what way I was insulting whom, definitely sounded like an attack to me.
