Hi All, While the jury is still out about whether people hear earthquakes before they happen I think I should bring up two interesting cases where we ear tone people heard something before scientific information hit the outside world. Back in 2001 in October or November both Cathryn and I heard a very ominous ear tone for the area around Chalome, which is just south of Parkfield. I actually didn't post about it at the time because I was fearful there might be a large earthquake in the area and I didn't want to talk about it. But Don brought it up later and some discussion took place on the board at that time. Near the end of 2004 finally information hit the net about scientists recording deep tremors in the Chalome area (see linked article). They started recording in December of 2001, after we had already heard a sound coming from there. We had no one to talk to about this and we very happy our experiences were later documented by scientific research. In October and November of 2004 my ear tone group starting having 6 second left ear tones which is for an area around Petrolia, yet no earthquakes were being reported. This went on for a period of about 6 weeks and after making some inquiries we did learn that the MTJ was having a series of Episodic Tremors. I have secured a webicorder print of the November 2nd event and did also confirm that people who use ULF recorders picked up the same thing. A paper is in the process of being written and submitted on this topic by a Bay Area scientist, so some time in the future you'll read about. These two cases are interesting in that they demonstrate that sometimes earth movement does occur which is not reflected as an earthquake, yet is serious insofar as future fault behavior. Even if we report hearing a sound there is no guarantee an earthquake will arrive, but we who work with this information know that these areas do bare watching for future activity....Petra 2001 Posts on Deep, Dark & Ugly http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/12976.html http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/12958.html
