U.C. Davis study |
Hi All, I saw on our local news station that a man named James Holliday in some sort of league with a John Rundle at U.C. Davis, had mapped California for substantial quakes between 2000-2010. The map was a computerized model of Calif. with hot spots in certain areas. One was in my backyard. It looked either to be in the area of the Loma Prieta EQ, or it could have been on the southern segment of the Hayward Fault; it was hard to tell and spread out over a wide area. I just caught this story in passing, and it seemed as if they were claiming hits already for 30 out of 37 predicted quakes. Now surely, that cannot be right. Is anyone familiar with their work? Can anyone here set the record straight for me, as this doesn't seem credible. And where IS that hotspot near the Santa Cruz area?
