Jim, I'm not a volcanologist, and it is just a picture, but I don't think that would be pumice..pumice forms when gas-rich magma is blasted out. This is squeezing out like toothpaste, I think....except hotter...and is probably a silica-rich lava...which would harden into the rock rhyolite. Or, I could be wrong..
