Well a lot of this is over my head, although I had a total flashback after reading the VAN stuff..

Does anyone here, who is from the Bay Area, remember March of 1987, there was some guy in the south bay area who had claimed to have created a device that would pick up electromagnetic signals that could detect earthquakes? I remember him going on KGO Channel 7 and telling viewers that in the evening the bay area would experience a 4-5 magnitude earthquake. His little device sat on a table and had little blinking lights. Sure enough the quake hit the next morning around 8AM, measured 4.1 and I want to say was centered near Morgan Hill or San Jose on the Calaveras fault. Not bad. However, this guy and his team went away, never heard from them again. At the time they had plans to market this device to consumers....

Sorry I'm not much help on the in depth VAN/ELF discussion, but does anyone remember this situation?
