Animal Behavior in publication

As pointed out in link, it is non-surprising that animals would behave strangely near Mount St. Helens....a week or so there were lots of M3 quakes...and smaller quakes every couple of minutes. Also...it is October and winter is coming, so animals moving off the mountain is not surprising for that reason either (plus any sound from eruptions, ash, etc.).

On the other hand, more than a decade ago I read an article in the Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America (the article is probably from the late 1970s?) on the strange animal behavior before the 1975 earthquake in China....the one that had a successful prediction that got people out of their soon-to-collapse houses. There was actually a picture of rats running on phone or electric lines. But, I've seen this in New Orleans and there was no quake. But, they also talked about snakes coming 1/2 out of holes and their front halves freezing....and a bunch of other stuff...Chris
