Re: Keene Earthquake The Garage

Hi Don, I can help you with the garage issue. Garages at that time and sometimes these days have walls which only have exterior coverings. This allows them to move considerably more than the finished walls inside of a home. The garage is flexing like crazy and yet the dwelling is moving at a much slower rate, thus less spillage. Tonight I was doing some changes in my nail and screw containers in the garage and moving those with non-see-through containers into glass containers as their contents are easier to see. Then I realized I need to do something about securing them on their shelves or one day I'm likely to have the same effect your aunt did or anyone who goes through a moderate quake. Convenience at some times is not necessarily a good thing. I need to nail the lids to a board and fasten the board to a stationary wall, then I can see what I need and they won't fly during earthquakes. Petra
