The other day I was commenting on the poor choices of food the AGU has sometimes selected for their guest meetings, so today I thought I'd share a post about a place where visiting scientists, their friends and family might wish to dine when they are visiting the City by the Bay.

I've dined at Sams Cafe in downtown Tiburon, CA twice in the last month. It has a nice outdoor deck sitting right on the bay with a view of San Francisco and Angel Island and I can attest to the fact that the food is currently as good as ever. That's 5 Stars in my book.

Today we had a department outing where a group of us sat on the deck at Sams and had a wonderful lunch with cocktails, enjoyed the warmth of the Sun and all the sights and sounds of the Bay. Afterwards we were each given $100 and 1.5 hours to shop. When done we had to share with each other and display our purchases and then given the rest of the day off. Mind you, we have to work really hard so we can enjoy such events and we all were very deserving.

If you place this high on your list of things to do during the AGU you won't be the least bit disappointed.
