Good Morning Roger,

I think you asked the wrong question. Perhaps you should have said, what is right with you people?

If a person lives what they believe and that belief is shared by others, for the good it can bring to mankind, then that should be honorable. However, to be believed one must be a credible person. Not that they should have to carry with them a red badge of courage, or papered credentials, but that they should be a real and identifiable person.

While our irritating board member boasts of his accomplishments, he is not known to be a real person nor identifiable. When he says he sends out warnings to those who matter, he doesn't send them with a true name of a known person. So you can imagine, his desire to see something important come to fruition cannot happen simply because he is not credible. Could we imagine for instance that you were evaluating earthquake prediction methods, but you would never tell us who you are; thus, we could not take your information as a valid source or give it credibility because you would not be known to us.

The California Earthquake Prediction Council evaluates earthquake prediction methods and when the prediction made by Dr. Keilis-Borok came before them, they gave it consideration because he is a known scientist. They could see and understand his work and how he made his other two predictions. He has a known track record. In their evaluation they gave credibility to the prediction because the method can be proven. They will look at predictions made by lay people, but rarely would they give them credibility because the person is not known to them, nor has the ability to prove the method can or will work.

We have a person in our midst who makes many claims and none of them have been proven during the course of four years. He is not a known person, he is not known to be a scientist in any field, he is not known to have correctly and accurately to predict any earthquake anywhere on the surface of the planet. Therefore, he is not credible and yet this person comes before us almost weekly and boasts of his accomplishments.

What is right with us is that we are real people. Every one of us wishes to see the tide turn in earthquake prediction, not only for the value of science itself, but for the good it can bring people all over the world. We are willing to present what we have and know that we put our real names to these posts and are willing to answer questions to the best of our ability when one wants more information. And most often, we use Roberts Rules of Conduct when we address each other. Let us not be foolish now, but put the irritation aside and enjoy the company of those who do not boast.

Just a thought....Petra
