They are I believe proposing that when an earthquake is approaching there is heating in the fault zone rock layers. And that causes minerals to dissolve and you see elevated levels of certain metals in the water in the fault zone. I wonder if that heating would be due to strain related processes in the fault or heating from solar and geomagnetic storm activity as Dr. Whiteside used to discuss.
