One of the people who occasionally posts notes here has several publications or reports which show how the sun - Earth - moon angle affects earthquake triggering. He studied that triggering effect for a specific fault zone system and I believe determined that when the moon and sun gravities were pulling the fault zone in certain directions the forces they exert tend to trigger earthquakes. So, there is a good place to start with this subject matter.
