Hi Steve, This house is in the Luther Burbank Historic Gardens District. I love it because the folks around there take true pride in ownership of their homes and so many have English style gardens out front and cute little porches. Most of the smaller quakes around there are a bit to the north and the '69 twin quakes were east of Chanate Road and Mendocino Avenue. There's a beauty of a fault scarp you can see from Mendocino Avenue back to College that is off of the northern end of Lomitas Road. There's a wildlife preserve just beneath it. I checked the ABAG maps for the location of my new quarters and sure enough, it sits in a red area. Of course there are others that are in the black, but not around there. As for the where of the next big quake, I believe it will occur at the very northern end of the Hayward Fault. Within the past few months they have been having some very small quakes in an area that has not had quake activity of any note in the past. I'd say its fairly likely it would be designated as a Seismic Gap. If you run coordinates for the City of San Pablo you can get a catalog for the area. Petra
