Yes, I tend to work on offshore faults.....partly because there are a lot more seismic reflection data. But, I used to go around and actually measure the faults in outcrop...the little scratches formed by slip on the faults....I probably measured about 1000 faults in California....a lot of these (500) were on the northern Channel Islands-especially Santa Cruz Island. Almost all were strike-slip.....at the time some good part of the Southern California establishment were saying everything was thrust in these areas....for example, 10 or 15 years ago the Santa Monica fault was considered an inactive reverse fault....now known not to be the case.....Chris
