b value question |
Hi All, I was reading some material the other night regarding "b value" and that it has been noted to change before some earthquakes. It was noted in the Kariba, Koyna, Oroville and Ismut quakes. So I have a couple of questions I thought I'd throw out here and see if anyone can answer them. Can anyone explain how "b value" is measured in simple terms? I read the formula and formula's do little for me. Once one has determined the measurements, does a "b value" change stay constant or is it something that happens momentarily? While there are a few I could pose this question to, I thought it might be more interesting if we all shared learning about this together. Thanks!
