Hi Kiddo. The quakes appear to be in the area of the Gros Ventre Fault, which lies beneath the Gros Ventre mountain range. This area, which typically experiences several quakes a year, was the site of a 3.8 earthquake on Dec. 30, 2003. It could have been a foreshock to the most recent quake. The Teton Fault, which is about 25 miles west of this fault can have a quake up to at least a M>7.0+. The Cache Creek Thrust Fault lies to the south of the Gros Ventre Fault, but I don’t know the history of that fault. By the way we had an M>2.9 at 2:20 this afternoon. Just a quick shake and that was it. Not your kind of quake. Nothing new for this area. Just the typical earthquake for the Hollister area. Take Care…Don in creepy town
