Chris, I think directivity probably is stronger for lateral rupture along strike-slip faults, mode II cracks, than for lateral rupture of thrust faults, mode III cracks. This is just a guess, however. Apparently this earthquake triggered seismicity at Mammoth, which is a bit unexpected for such a small earthquake.
