Its Nov 22 and I'm going to get less excited about flares and earthquakes than last time, for the reappearance of the active areas on the sun. Roger correlated the largest 26 flares (before this month) with all M5+ quakes over 30 days, with aftershocks removed, and there appears to be NO correlation for the 1-10 day interval. But, the M3.8 in Lake Edward area within my 48 hour interval is the largest quake on the African continent listed in the last 30 days (there is also a 3.8 for Gibralter straights). The only other sub-Saharan quake for these 30 days is a 3.7 in Zambia Oct 30. The problem is that the list is liable to be incomplete for quakes this size. I suppose we can wait and see what happens in 2-3 days from now (after the extreme magnetic storm of 2 days ago....).... Chris
