Hi EQF. You got me there. I know that at any instant of time every celestial body is directly above or in the zenith of some point on the Earth's surface. This point lies on a line connecting the body and the center of the Earth. It is called the geographical position, or GP, of the body. Sometimes the GP of the sun is called the subsolar point; that of the moon, the sublunar point; and that of a star, its substellar point. I know it is used for navigation for the most part. I do know a number of seismologists who do know what the subsolar/sublunar points are. They are also the same seismologists who do not believe earthquakes are triggered by angle of the moon or sun. So what’s your point? Are you saying that because you how to determine it that this means you can predict a quake and not have to prove it?
