Hi Robert, Welcome to the EarthWaves board.

In my opinion, this presently could be the best and safest location on the Internet to discuss earthquakes and earthquake forecasting. It has a good structure which is easy to work with. It is somewhat protected from outside interferences. The atmosphere is generally friendly. And there are a few knowledgeable people posting notes here in the area of geology.

One rule appears to be that it is important not to get so excited by other people's posts and responses to your post that it results in excessive personal insults being exchanged. And we have had a few good one appear in the boards over the years. This is actually the second or third version of this board. The first two were called QuakeNet and were completely private. Another EarthWaves board branched off and because the Yahoo version.

Can you give us some information regarding your background and interest in earthquake science and celestial mechanics etc. It does not have to be a large file containing anything personal.

It might contain some information on the work you normally do,

what type of education you have

explain how you got involved with all of this

why you got involved

exactly what you are interested in discussing or hearing being discussed,

how you learned about the group etc.

do you have a Web site or e-mail address

Add or leave out anything you wish.

There is more along the development of international earthquake forecasting programs than you might think. There is a significant development in progress regarding one particular program at the moment. I can't say any more than that. But more information should be available later this week.

Finally, I personally do not yet know exactly how your forecasting program works or precisely what it is you are trying to forecast. I expect that this will come with time. And I use EQF only in these board notes. This helps keep the subject matter confined to the board. It does not usually get quoted in the Newsgroups etc.

Regard,

EQF
