I'd call our work very weak predictions

Roger, I'd consider our most recent tide work a prediction, but a very low powered one. At best, in some places and times, we'd say that a shallow thrust eartquake can be accurately stated to be twice or half as likely as average. So one could state the probability of an earthquake at for a particular time interval, say 0.01% per hour, which is a prediction. It's not a good prediction, which would have a high probability of an earthquake, more like 50-100%. John
