Sunspot No. high--134 on 24 July
Smallest to largest daily total area of sunspots--230 on 27 July from 1030 on 24 July
(100 equals a Planet Earth area.)
X-Class Solar Flares: none; last M-Class flares (5/day) 8 on 11 June (see ticker for fewer MC)
Planetary Geomagnetic Indices: high of 36 on 29 July;
one set of K-Indices of 4 or more (5 or more/24 hours*)--26-31 July
(* The 24 hour period can overlap two days.)
Moon for August per Astronomy Magazine
5 first quarter, 6 perigee, 12 full, 19 last quarter, 19 apogee, 27 new, 31 another perigee
The moon is at perigee (229,555 miles near) 6 August.
Three summer meteor showers began about mid July. Two minor ones peaked this past week: the Southern Delta Aquarid and the Alpha Capricornids, while the major Perseid Shower peaks 13 August. Unfortunately the Perseids peak near the Full Moon.
August [red]Mars[/red] Events:
27 August--Closest to Earth (34.6 millions miles near) in 60,000 years, New Moon
28 August--Opposition (alignment of Sun, Earth, Mars)
30 August--Perihelion (128.4 million miles near the Sun)
Mars is in the Constellation Aquarius from July to December and rises in the east from 10 PM EDT 1 August to 8 PM EDT by 31 August. It is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon.

SPECIAL NOTE
Aches and Pains Map
In the effort to evaluate symptoms as part of earthquake prediction, I found MSN Weather has an Aches and Pains Map at
http://www.weather.com/maps/activity/achesandpains/index_large.html
How effective this will be at narrowing one's focus remains to be seen.
Questions and comments help me serve you better.
