Briefly, I bought my first computer in April 1992, broke in my running shoes on Medical Support BB, and as the excitement there wore down I found Prodigy Classic's Science/Seismology BB. It also fit with my religious interest in eschatology and a desire to look at nature for the fulfilment of the some of the prophecies in Revelation. Shortly Allison Rhoden became the Special Contributor, and I volunteered to help as her Assistant. Prodigy was closing down the Special Contributor program, however, and it was gone when PC became PI or Prodigy Internet. I decided daily reporting was grueling, and came up with a weekly format, while Allison found two jobs to keep up with a teenager and a place on the PBS program, Savage Earth. The two days she assigned me are still special work days, with the Digest being shifted from Tuesday to Thursday when GVN/USGS decided to come out with a volcano report on Wednesdays.

The monthly chart of 6M and greater quakes came from Diane Pope, who was also an active volunteer then. It uses counts from the weekly report, which are basically preliminary, but my interest is in trends, and currently the count is up.

I hope I didn't go too far astray.
