Re: Correction |
Hi Canie, I didn't mean to cut the post above so short, but I was at work and got a call, so I had to move on. The correction is that the window closed at midnight on 6/20. I use a link to calculate distances from me to future epicenters and then once the quakes emerge I can go back and measure the distance from me to the epicenter and calculate how many miles I missed. This calculator measures by direct line, not driving miles as ear tones don't drive roads when they are heard either. I cannot divulge exactly how I came to the conclusion the quake was going to appear where it did, but it was a matter of choice to pick Bishop to Benton, but I could have just as easily picked Tom's Place and arrived within my radius easily. Hind sight is everything. To make a prediction I have to hear the tone, use a map, the distance calculator, use a catalog to determine possible magnitudes and affix a window. None of the above will tell anyone the exact formula for doing this equasion, but it gives one an idea of the process. When used repeatedly it is easy to identify what can fit within acceptable limits or not. I'm attaching the link for anyone else who might find some use for it.
