Well Being

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in regards to a lot of discussions on this board. I really do belive that for a small minority of posters on here, this board, and the science of earthquakes is turning into an unhealthy obsession. Yes some of you really care about death tolls and preventing them, etc. But others, its like you live for earthquakes. If they magically ceased to exist, I don't know what some of you on this board would do.

A lot of people make good contributions or thought provoking comments. But others, are so wrapped up, and IMO, out of touch at times, their comments and long articles are almost comical.

I feel like EVERYONE who has lurked on this board or contributed or at least a year, and who checks daily maps of the state, should be educated by now to the fact that California and other parts of the world are siesmically active. It is a part of life. By having dreams, visions, "dreaded thoughts at certain intersections" hearing birds sing at perceived wrong times of the day, and then claiming something is up, isn't exactly science or a proper representation of the day to day process in the state. I don't think anyone here is crazy or not intelligent, but for some, they are so caught up and obsessed that they buy into this way of thinking-and that- isn't always healthy.

Finally, IMO, I feel maybe some members might want to consider taking a break from the board. Just to perserve their own well being. When you begin to appear to be agitated at others predictions, always nit picking, actually showing signs of jealousy at what you perceive as someone else's success over your own, well then, it is getting to be too much for you. Sometimes I read things on this board and chuckle to myself, how if by some struck of luck I predicted a moderate quake w/in a 10 mile radius on an exact date, some people here wouldn't be happy but a bit miffed.

Life is too short. Remember, most of us live in seismically active areas, live life to fullest. Go out, take a walk, call a friend, and if you feel a quake, great! But to dwell 24/7 is going to drive you crazy, as it may already be!
