A hit and a miss

The New York Times article had a map of the M3 EQs that Geoforecasters expected, with some 2s. The map does not show the one near the San Andreas north of the Salton Sea (so a miss IF the map is supposed to show all 3s for North America or at least California). But, it does show a cluster of M>3 dots in the general area of Coso, and the M3.6 today may fall in that area. So, maybe a hit. But, out of all the dots on the map, how many have to occur before they are better than chance plus knowing where quakes have been occuring (where active faults are)? A difficult question. Chris
