Re: SGE |
Hi John, Oh Yeah, I got the Gibe virus this morning. There is nothing more unpleasant to wake up to in the morning and turn on your computer and have a virus alert glaring at you. Not a good way to start the day at all. One of them even made it through my ISP. I got an alert message from them and somewhere in the message was the virus. Pretty strong stuff. Of course, Don has had the same experience since he posted over there, but he has an arrangement with his ISP that all messages with virus' will be held for viewing at the ISP office, then they never make it to his computer. He has to pay a little extra for the service, but its worth it. I think this is something I'm going to check into with my ISP. This weekend though will be devoted to putting something together for the people I'll speak to in Sacramento on Wednesday. I feel a bit like a fish out of water as I've never been in this setting before, so I don't know what they expect and I do so hate to be off cue. Now its time to demonstrate what I've learned from the world of science and place an emphasis on the importance of the human experience in living through the dangers in life when earthquakes arrive. I'm not certain if this will be a one time only event, or if several other visits will be required, but sometimes you only get one shot at something in life and this may be it. Its like running the race for life, and knowing you need to make the finish line. If I make a good case, millions win, if I don't, they lose. I just hope I have the right stuff at the right time. Hopefully, scientific facts will make the case for me, and my observations will demonstrate it doesn't take a big earthquake to have a lot of damage, it just depends on where you are in relationship to this event. Thanks to my attendance at the AGU events and a plethora of reading over the years, something unusual is about to occur and my homework will have been worth the effort. After this, I have some ideas about how to train people who work in grocery stores not to escort their clients to the most dangerous place in the store during an earthquake, those large plate glass windows.
