Hi John. Have to agree with you. Stress, and lots of it is the cause of major quakes. If you don’t have the stress to produce an M>8.0 quake it doesn’t matter how many triggers you have in the area.

That stress doesn’t build up over night. It takes years, sometimes hundreds of years and in some cases longer. By not knowing how much stress has accumulated and how much more needs to be accumulated there is no way anyone can predict a major quake. Take Care…Don in creepy town
