Petra, Certainly the San Fernando fault has been known since 1971, when it broke (dark pink to the right of Northridge), the Santa Susana has been known for a long time (light green above), as have the Oak Ridge (on the left under the yellow) and Sierra Madre (to the right, off white). I'm not sure about the rest, but geologists can look at the mountains and suspect thrust faults. John
