Don posted predictions here for over a year and so far the press hasn't asked for any interviews and the science community hasn't seen fit to set him on fire yet either.

I've also posted my fair share of predictions, forecasts or alerts and I'm not on the roterisserie yet either. Nor others who have gone boldly here as well.

Therefore I am at a loss as to why you feel you would be singled out. Frankly, I'd much rather post a prediction here than have other world governments come hunting me down through the State Department. That's a lot more serious infraction.

But I do think we should make it very clear, you do not, nor have you ever made a prediction in an advance of an earthquake on this board, nor do I believe that you ever will, for whatever reason you feel is important.

But we should talk about things that do happen as a result of posting on the Internet. For me, there have been open confessions of love. I liked that part. But on the other hand there was a menacing woman who sent threatening e-mails to another woman who was posting on another board. It did cause her to retreat and she has not posted since. But the perpatrator of the deed did calm down when I offered to meet her at Starbucks in Marin for coffee and Don also had a nice e-mail chat with her and she no longer posts.

The important point is that none of us are scientists and as a result, we are free to say whatever we please as long as we are civil to each other.

So feel, go ahead, lob one out there and let's see what happens. As I like to say, "you cannot win if you do not try."
