proposal procedure |
Petra, Proposals for earthquake research generally go to the NSF or the USGS, occasionally to NASA or a local organization like SCEC (Southern California Earthquake Center). NSF proposals, for example, contain the following (I have 94 sitting next to my computer to read for the next panel): 1-page project summary The proposals this time request $80,000-$730,000, spread over 1 to 5 years. Generally 1/4 to 1/2 are funded, and the NSF takes proposals for Dec. 1 and June 1 deadlines. It takes 6 or 7 months from submitting the proposal to getting the money.
