Petra, I work in an area of science where there is constant danger, frequent accidents, and much litigation. And I believe that I have a fairly good idea regarding what can be said in public forums. Additionally, with the old QuakeNet Web site which I feel could be regarded to some extent as earlier version of this present EarthWaves site, one of the first things that the Web site owner and I did was get an opinion from an attorney which stated that earthquake forecasts are “protected speech.” And that opinion was stored on a Web page at the site.
