I agree, the strain has to be resolved sometime. Almost every portion of the pacific plate has had an M6 or greater in the past few years, except for California, one of the most active coasts on the boarder. At some point the lock will give.
I hope that more people turn on to Petra's advice about earthquake preparations, and learn how to protect themselves.
