Missing the point |
Most of the questions which people asked may have to wait for a few days for answers. I finished the Solid Earth Tide calculations for the several dozen earthquakes in the lower half of that table on my 131.html Web page. And I am now checking the results for accuracy and when finished plan to store them on the Web page. The format of that table is not ideal. But it presently represents an introductory effort. Changes can be easily made to its format and probably will be to make it easier to read. In the mean time I will propose that some may be missing one of the main points of this effort: If you wish to forecast earthquakes then it probably helps to understand how and why they occur when they occur. And there are endless books, research reports, and conference papers which have been generated on the subject. But, most people including myself do not have easy access to those publications etc. What I am in the process of doing at that Web page is storing a number of different types of data regarding earthquakes at one location so that they can be examined and discussed. There are some precursor data there. And people will (hopefully) be able to see what the gravity picture looked like for a given earthquake and see if it occurred at the same time there was a Solid Earth Tide crest or trough in the vicinity and perhaps eventually if it might have been linked with a solar or geomagnetic storm. Once the Solid Earth Tide data have been stored there those types of discussions can get started. Follow Ups: ● Re: Missing the point - Don In Hollister 10:31:36 - 12/5/2002 (17506) (0) |
