Relation of the South Georgia Mw 6.4 and Alaska earthquakes

There was an interesting, and quite rare earthquake in the South Georgia Island region southeast of South America today with Mw 6.4 today which was preceded by foreshocks of Mw 5.9 and 4.9 in the past day.

This was the strongest event in the South Georgia area since May 6, 1962.

Of some interest to members of this board is the distance between this and the great Alaska earthquake 11 days ago - 145 degrees. This is at
the inner core/outer core shadow zone boundary and an area where triggering is expected. The ringmap URL is below.
