The earthquake near Grapevine northwest of Los Angeles today appears to be the strongest in the region of southern California in the L.A. or west of L.A. area since the swarm of Jan. 29-30, 2002, a significant regional earthquake. The small earthquakes which were showing up in the region over the past two days have not yet been removed from the web data listings, so they may have been precursory to this event.
