East African Rift (Lake Tanganyika) Earthquake (Ms 6.3) |
The Ms 6.3 in the Lake Tanganyika area today was the largest event ever recorded within 200 km of that epicenter. Look at the far-field forecast map from West Irian (October 10). Today's event lies 105 degrees from that earthquake (in the middle of the shadow zone edge). A strong geomagnetic storm also began today beginning at about 00:UT. Lake Tanganyika was anti-solar at the time of the initiation of that storm. Observations such as these may be important to some members of this board.
