Hi Kiddo. As much as I hate to agree with you I would have to say you are right in this respect. Most people have this ostrich syndrome. I live in the “earthquake capital of the world” unofficial that is. Some how Parkfield lays claim to the title by virtue of the fact that everyone is looking for one there. I know from talking to the people that live in the mobile home park that I live in that almost no one is prepared for the next major quake. They either say it won’t happen in their lifetime, or there is nothing they can do to prevent it so why bother. They tell me that we have already had a major quake and this area came through it with flying colors. They were referring to the Loma Prieta quake. I explain to them that it wasn’t the major quake that is expected. That doesn’t seem to matter. They tell they have a hard time with everyday things let alone preparing for a quake that may never happen while they are still alive. There is some logic in that, but I have to wonder if it’s sound logic. Speaking of a major quake in the month of Oct. how does 10/17/2002 sound to you? Why not. It’s as good a day as any other. Then again it could be a little better then others. By the way. Don’t start opening that box of candy just yet. You still haven’t won it. Anyway the fix is in. Sorry you had to take that boring yachting trip. You missed a great time at Lake Pillsbury. The road wasn’t all that bad. At least not as bad as the last time we went. I found the warm sulfur springs in the slide area. Boy do they stink. They’re not to far from Scott Dam, which by the way is not to far from the Bartlett Springs fault. Did you know that the Bartlett Springs fault cuts all the way down to the mantel? That makes two faults that do that. The other one is the Maacama fault. There is also some evidence that the heat source for the northern segment of the Rodgers Creek fault comes from the mantel. I’m going to have to dig into that some more. Take Care…Don in creepy town
