Yesterday, Wednesday afternoon, around 4:00 pm I saw several groups of ducks or geese flying NNW over the western San Fernando Valley. I know they are here during the winter, but it seemed weird to see them vacating the area at that time of the day. Also, I filled my birdfeeder a couple days ago and not one has touched it yet. Previously I've had at least some birds that hang around here during the winter. And I know that sparrows do, because you see them even in the really cold northeastern Iowa winters that I miss so much now (yesterday was my 14 year anniversary living here in So CA). They eat more when it has been cold like it has been here the past few days. So they must be elsewhere for some reason.
