I don't know if Java has the same problems with math as javascript, but if it does, I wouldn't attempt to do any serious math with it. From what I've seen, granted it was a quick internet search, I didn't see that Truebasic interfaces well with or at all with databases, sockets and networking abilities. which I would think would be very important in what needs to be done in this case. I wouldn't call it a scripting language, as in like the unix shell scripting language, it's far more than that. It isn't compiled, it is interpretive like BASIC. It's VERY fast as well. It's closer to C than to a shell. I'm sure Truebasic is excellent, as I've worked with BASIC for many many years. Granted I haven't worked with Truebasic, so I really can't comment on it's strengths and weaknesses. Check out http://www.cpan.org and look into the modules available. In it's infancy PERL wasn't as powerful, however, today, It rivals most languages out there. Since most web sites use PERL for their cgi's chances are there will be more people out there able to program in PERL in respect to database manipulation, than there will be for Truebasic. Almost any language can be made to work, otherwise there would only be one language. Some are better than others at certain tasks. Since we really don't know what tasks were required of the software, it makes it more difficult to chose the most appropriate method. All we were given was the criteria for the language, not the specifics of the job at hand. George
