Hi All. Being the sort of person I am and my background and training I look for things that appear to have a connection. I will admit that this is stretching the data a bit, but it is something to think about never the less. These quakes are for the Medicine Lake Volcano in northeast California. It is the largest volcano in the Cascade Range and is still considered to be active. Notice the date that started a swarm of quakes in the area. Mt. St. Helens erupted in 1980 and Long Valley Caldera had its share of quakes in 1980 that started with four M>6.0 quakes. Look at the number of quakes over M>3.0 that occurred in 1978 as opposed the number of quakes over M>3.0 that occurred until 1988. No quakes over M>3.0 have occurred since then. Could there be a connection here in the form of the ECSZ (Eastern California Shear Zone) or is there something else? Could that something else be the remnant of the Farallon Plate? In the area of Medicine Lake it could, but isn’t Long Valley Caldera to far south for the Farallon Plate, or could the Farallon Plate be larger then what it is thought to be? Could there be a plate under California that is causing the unrest at Long Valley Caldera, or is that a hot spot much in the same way as Yellowstone. Current GPS data show very little to almost no movement in the area of Medicine Lake, but a lot of movement in the Long Valley Caldera area. Okay so there are a lot of questions looking for answers. Anyone got any? Take Care…Don in creepy town 1978/06/11 19:08:25.56 41.4088 -121.8030 0.03 3.20 MLm 10 257 111 0.24 NCSN -1040645 1978/08/01 09:02:33.79 41.4298 -121.8505 0.34 4.60 MLm 79 127 101 0.16 NCSN -1041322 1978/08/01 09:46:45.36 41.3558 -121.8647 1.25 4.50 MLm 30 233 93 0.32 NCSN -1041323 1978/08/04 05:18:53.14 41.4170 -121.9388 13.37 3.50 MLm 7 258 11 0.06 NCSN -1041382 1978/08/04 05:33:26.89 41.4375 -121.8678 11.97 3.10 coda 11 278 9 0.13 NCSN -1041384 1978/08/04 06:15:31.83 41.4595 -121.7880 5.15 3.00 coda 8 294 15 0.06 NCSN -1041386 1978/08/05 07:22:09.99 41.4580 -121.8317 10.05 3.40 coda 4 286 12 0.00 NCSN -1041416 1978/08/05 22:17:27.35 41.5007 -121.8415 3.41 3.00 coda 8 146 4 0.06 NCSN -1041433 1978/08/05 22:19:06.76 41.5138 -121.8418 3.03 3.10 coda 8 154 4 0.05 NCSN -1041434 1978/08/06 02:54:46.21 41.4742 -121.8470 3.77 3.50 coda 7 114 5 0.03 NCSN -1041441 1978/08/06 12:52:24.23 41.4950 -121.8670 1.43 3.20 coda 8 135 2 0.03 NCSN -1041455 1978/08/07 06:49:49.42 41.4787 -121.8187 1.39 3.00 coda 9 72 4 0.03 NCSN -1041473 1978/08/07 12:38:53.37 41.4493 -121.8323 0.70 3.70 coda 10 51 4 0.03 NCSN -1041480 1978/08/07 21:06:08.14 41.5027 -121.8188 4.02 3.30 coda 7 100 11 0.03 NCSN -1041495 1978/08/07 22:29:53.24 41.4323 -121.8573 6.60 3.40 coda 7 96 9 0.03 NCSN -1041498 1978/08/07 22:30:13.60 41.4457 -121.8520 3.43 3.10 coda 9 72 6 0.06 NCSN -1041499 1978/08/08 11:34:00.61 41.5065 -121.8468 3.77 3.00 coda 10 85 4 0.03 NCSN -1041526 1978/08/11 14:29:01.74 41.4850 -121.8637 3.19 3.00 coda 8 83 12 0.04 NCSN -1041594 1981/01/09 06:45:51.83 41.5800 -121.9205 1.97 3.40 MLm 12 134 22 0.13 NCSN -1059057 1981/01/09 12:35:22.58 41.5918 -121.9148 0.03 3.20 coda 12 135 21 0.25 NCSN -1059075 1981/01/09 12:44:35.86 41.5602 -121.9177 4.44 3.30 MLm 13 131 22 0.11 NCSN -1059076 1981/01/10 00:36:15.31 41.5823 -121.9133 4.30 3.60 MLm 7 134 21 0.09 NCSN -1059094 1981/01/12 02:22:04.25 41.5558 -121.9222 5.90 3.00 MLm 10 132 22 0.13 NCSN -1059187 1981/01/12 11:45:56.84 41.5927 -121.9202 5.88 3.00 MLm 9 135 22 0.07 NCSN -1059204 1982/08/27 22:02:28.19 41.5372 -121.6502 4.06 3.20 coda 4 232 5 0.01 NCSN -1078183 1988/09/29 15:05:01.09 41.5708 -121.6237 1.60 3.50 MLm 7 258 3 0.06 NCSN 124590 1988/09/30 00:03:56.42 41.5680 -121.6290 1.13 3.60 MLm 8 252 3 0.03 NCSN 124618 1988/09/30 00:30:13.61 41.5767 -121.5997 0.54 4.30 MLm 22 238 5 0.20 NCSN 124620 1988/09/30 00:40:03.40 41.5732 -121.6110 0.62 3.60 MLm 19 237 4 0.09 NCSN 124624 1988/10/04 00:34:08.07 41.5685 -121.6332 1.09 3.31 MLm 7 167 1 0.05 NCSN 124881
