Hi Chris, There are three things you neglected to mention in your note regarding the statement relating to future activity in the Coso Junction area. 1) I have consistently maintained that areas of high heat flow have delayed seismicity in relation to solar and geomagnetic effects. I have often noted that this delay can be from 4-7 days. It apparently takes some time for the process (whatever it is) that is initiated by the flares/Geomagnetic storms to eventually result in an earthquake or swarm. 2) There was a X1.6 solar flare, the largest in nearly half a year on April 23 followed by a moderate geomagnetic storm on April 25. The Coso swarm falls 8 days after the flare and 6 days after the geomagnetic storm. Near the delay time expected. 3) The location given by SCSN (NOT USGS) is within the Coso Junction region. SCSN gives the following locations and descriptions for these events: 02/05/01 23:02:27 35.73N 118.08W 0.0 3.0ML A 24 mi. SSW of Coso Junction, CA 02/05/01 23:03:41 35.71N 118.08W 3.2 2.9ML A 24 mi. SSW of Coso Junction, CA 02/05/02 06:00:14 35.71N 118.08W 1.5 3.4ML A* 24 mi. SSW of Coso Junction, CA 02/05/02 06:51:57 35.71N 118.08W 4.4 2.4ML A* 24 mi. SSW of Coso Junction, CA 02/05/02 08:05:48 35.71N 118.08W 1.7 2.3ML A* 25 mi. SSW of Coso Junction, CA But I did say "you be the judge", and my judgement is clearly different from yours. It takes many opinions to ferret out the facts. Are there any others out there? Besides, right or wrong, I still love saying "I told you so"
