Canie-I can and will check: let me know how serious you are about wanting to do this (my .aol email address is not in use anymore).. I'll be calling someone who works on eastern earthquakes in a few minutes (if he is in his office: he may be dropping seismometers...). But, my guess is that there is no money for this through the people at Lamont-Doherty: they probably have little or no funding to study eastern seismicity. I would guess that they would welcome volunteers. Perhaps there should be more focus on intraplate earthquakes in this country. For example, I was told that the nuclear power plants in the east are designed for 0.15 (to 0.25) g (force of gravity). I imagine this NY earthquake has accelerations at least this high. But, there is more to it than that: the frequencies may have been too high and duration too short to damage a nuclear power plant (for example). By the way: EQ ground motion is not my field.
