Re: Prediction registry needed |
Roger: The idea would be to open it to the general public, as I think it would be a productive tool to be used in the science of earthquake prediction, both for those on this board as well as elsewhere. Nothing would please me more than to have somebody nail the art/science of EQ prediciton with me making a contribution in this manner. The submission form could be placed on earthwaves or any other site for that matter. A mechanism exists within PERL to allow CGI submissions from authorized external sites. Maybe a field could be added for a link to the predictors main discussion haunt. That might also eliminate the need to provide a field for comments, as it would provide a link to a forum where the prediction could be discussed. I'm leaning towards no registration required because I'm not so sure I want to keep track of all that. On the other hand, I need to provide an EPR ID to those who wish to remain private ... So, I guess I would have to register users else there would be no connection between multiple predicitons of the same predictor. Your right, nobody wants to fumble through old archives. It's simply not worthwhile. Hopefully this proposed idea could make a difference in this field of research. Michael
