Intellectual property rights are sometimes matters of contention even with the best
and accomodating intentions. If the goal is good science rather than egoistic
enhancement, conflicts can usually be worked out. There are many cases in
the history of human thought of parallel development of ideas, most with happy endings.
As for problems, they do come and go, but when problems are viewed as opportunities i
to move beyond the current track, they too can be overcome.
