Hello Lowell, The Marmara Sea EQ has not yet shown up on the NEIC but is on the Turkish page. It is very close to the main strand of the North Anatolian fault in Marmara Sea (plate in Le Pichon et al, Earth and Planetary Sciences Letters, 192 (2001), 595-616. It is about 25 km west of the M4.8 of Feb 28. Armijo et al have a new paper showing the Central Basin as a pull-apart basin. These 2 earthquakes are on either side of the center of this basin. I'll be interested in the focal mechanisms of these earthquakes. Lowell-would you say that activity in this immediate area has increased since 1999, or these 2 the only large earthquakes and therefore not enough data points for a smooth trend? Chris
